EarthLink WebMail vs HostingMail

Use EarthLink WebMail for an EarthLink-family mailbox, HostingMail for an EarthLink-hosted domain mailbox, and the Account Portal for account management and password recovery. These are different EarthLink services; choosing the one that matches your address avoids troubleshooting the wrong sign-in page.

How to tell which service your address uses

If your email ends in an EarthLink or associated mail domain, start with WebMail. EarthLink lists examples such as @earthlink.net, @mindspring.com and @ix.netcom.com. If your mailbox address uses a domain connected to an EarthLink web-hosting account, check the HostingMail instructions for that service.

A hosted-domain mailbox may have different incoming server names and account administration from consumer EarthLink WebMail. Do not assume one password-reset link or mail-client setting applies to both. EarthLink’s hosting support article lists the separate HostingMail address and server details.

Use the portal that matches your task

• To read email online, choose WebMail or HostingMail based on the mailbox type.
• To reset a consumer EarthLink email password, use WebMail’s “Forgot your password?” link or the Account Portal.
• To set up an email app, use the server settings for the correct service rather than copying consumer settings to a hosted mailbox.
